When Tom and Linda Jones were first engaged 38 years ago, they would drive around their hometown of St. Louis, Missouri and discuss what they wanted in their ideal home. They found that they were drawn to the big, beautiful plantation homes of the city. Linda recalls one time, as they were driving around dreaming, a police officer pulled the couple over. They explained what they were doing, and much to their delight, the compassionate police officer offered to let them follow his cruiser as he shined a floodlight on the homes of the people he knew were out of town. Roland and Joan DesCombes often refer to the master bathroom in their Winter Park home as “a little gem.” The couple took what was once an old, outdated and slightly dilapidated bathroom and transformed it into a flawless, spa-inspired haven. Reminiscent of light reflecting off a polished precious stone, the multifaceted space offers a multitude of surprises. “We renovated a relatively small space, filling it with a lot of luxury touches,” explains Joan. “We wanted something that had charm and suited the style of the house, but was also very functional.” read more

Paul and Jeanine found that they wanted a bigger house with a playroom for their two growing boys. What they came across was the blueprint for a showcase home from builder Dave Brewer Inc. According to Jeanine, the house design was to have “everything,” including a large pantry, wine cellar, exercise room, but most importantly a kitchen that is open to the rest of the house. The couple loved the amenable kitchen design, not only for its aesthetics, but for its everyday functionality. “The kitchen is like an extension of the house.
